Treasure Hunting

Posted in | »

A long, tiring but fun day at the Coffs Jetty.
We started the day with a sail past. This involved all the yachts and dinghies circling the harbour and saluting or just waving at the vice commodore and some ecclesiastical chap who blessed the fleet. I guess that means we are all ready to  set off on some sort of expedition or invasion maybe.

Then the yachts all tootled off on some kind of race or something whilst the dinghies fought over balls of varying worth. The winner being the boat with the most balls and the most points... or something. It was pretty challenging as the balls got chucked out of the rescue boat upwind, downwind and everywhere so all sailing skills were tested to our limits.

Then we all made our way back through the ferocious surf. One unfortunate boat got rolled and demasted by a killer wave. the rest of us managed to get in without any damage.

We all lunched on hot dogs and steak sarnies from the barbie with piles of cake. After which was the treasure hunt (pictured). Young Jimmy was the winner as he found the most boaty bits.

In the afternoon 'Dash for Cash' I managed to come second in the first heat, which I think technically may mean I came in last overall. Cash never did motivate me to dash.

Ah well home now, kids are watching Nims Island, which is a lovely book and film.
