Another Beautiful Day

»

Rachel, Heath, Jess and Allie had the traditional RSL 'stuff-yourself-silly' breakfast with Jay, Cheri, Ev, Em and I this morning. As usual I went along with the intention of having a nice bowl of fruit, muesli and yoghurt with coffee. As usual I left feeling slightly ill from having eaten to much. We humans are like hamsters really.

Afterwards my new pal Cameron came round to play. We took B.O. the boat down to the Jetty for a sail. Yes that's right the boat is called B.O. not short for Body Odour. It is actually called Branch Office. Anyway back to the story. Rachel, Heath and the girls arrived as we were rigging the boat. So we took Jess and Ally out to the mouth of the harbour. You have never heard so much screaming. Everytime a gust of wind came or when we had to tack or change course the girls would scream fabulously. Ally was very brave and Jess was a lovely sister and held her hand. It was lovely to get to spend time with all. Too soon we dropped the girls back on the beach and waved and hugged goodbye. I expect they are back home in Brisbane now.

Cameron and I sailed around some more and as we tacked out near the harbour mouth the rudder snapped off. It reminded me of the time when the wheel fell off the car and overtook us. Boats don't just crunch to a stop though. We had to jury rig a rudder with a paddle and some expert sail tweaking by Cameron before we could high-five on the beach.
